For over 50 years in business, 30 years in our present location, here in Lexington. My wife, Dawn and I, copy and restore photographs. Dawn is a 50 year experienced photographic artist in the field of restoration and oil paintings. I, John, am a 50 year experienced photographer. Together we make a fantastic artistic team, each complementing the other and today specializing in the craft of copy and restoration of photographs. How long have you been in business?
We have been in business since 1955.
What is your primary product or service?
Currently we copy and restore old photographs and we create oil paintings.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
My dad purchased my first camera and developing kit when I was eleven. I began selling pictures to the newspaper
eventually becoming employed by the Lexington newspaper. I joined the air force after high school as a photographer
and eventually joined the Lexington Fire Department, became a Captain Fire Inspector and Arson Investigator as well as a photographer and still continued my business with a photography studio. My wife studied art since she was 16 years old and eventually achieved the level as a Master Artist. She has taught around the country the art of the restoration of photographs and artist oil painting
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
The length of years we both have studied, taught and experienced the different history of the profession. The fact we love what we do and the care we both extend to all of our customers.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We have only the one location and do not desire to expand.

Walton Avenue is near the center of Lexington off of the Winchester Road just past the Jiff Peanut Butter Plant. It is also off the 600 bk of East Main St. beside the Board of Education building. Walton is a short connecter street between
Winchester Road (East 3rd St) and East Main St.
What type of payments do you accept?
Of course we accept cash as well as checks, Visa and MasterCard.
Which areas do you service?
We receive work shipped from every state and brought to us from all of Kentucky.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Malick's Art Studio is owned by John and Dawn Malick.
What are your hours of operation?
Currently our hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10:00am until 5:00pm. We close for lunch from 1:00pm until 2:30pm each of those days. We can make appointments for other times and days by request. We prefer meeting by
appointment.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
The best compliment we receive is to feel that we have made a satisfied and happy friend.
What is your favorite quote or Bible verse?
I appreciate very much that question. The most precious verse to me is the 23rd Psalm. We all have had those difficult
times which it expresses and which lifts us out of those dark moments.
